J Pharm Cel: Celebes Journal of Pharmacy maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism in any form. All submitted manuscripts are subject to rigorous plagiarism screening prior to peer review to ensure academic integrity, originality, and ethical compliance.

2. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following forms:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text word-for-word without quotation marks or proper attribution.

  • Self-Plagiarism (Text Recycling): Reusing one's own previously published work without citation.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Patchwriting or paraphrasing from various sources without credit.

  • Idea Plagiarism: Presenting another person’s concepts, data, or theories without acknowledgment.

3. Screening Process

A. Pre-Submission (Author Responsibility)

  • Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original and all sources are properly cited.

  • Recommended tools for self-check: Turnitin, iThenticate, Grammarly.

B. Editorial Screening

  1. Initial Check (Upon Submission):

    • All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or iThenticate.

    • Acceptable similarity index: ≤20% (excluding references, quotations, and methods).

    • Submissions with >20% similarity are flagged for editorial review.

  2. Human Review:

    • The editorial board will review flagged sections to distinguish:

      • Properly cited common phrases vs. unethical copying

      • Standard methodological phrases vs. duplicated or redundant text

4. Actions for Plagiarism Detection

5. Sanctions for Plagiarism

If plagiarism is confirmed:

A. Before Publication

  • Repeat offenders may be blacklisted for 1–3 years.

B. After Publication

  • The article will be retracted with a formal public notice.

  • The authors’ institutions and funding bodies will be notified.

  • All actions follow COPE guidelines on publication ethics.

6. Appeals Process

Authors may appeal plagiarism-related decisions by:

  1. Submitting a revised manuscript with highlighted corrections.

  2. Providing supporting documents, such as permission letters for reused content.

  3. Requesting re-evaluation by an independent ethics panel appointed by the journal.

7. Tools & Compliance

  • Primary screening tools: Turnitin, iThenticate (DOI and full-text checks).

  • The journal complies with ethical guidelines from:

    • COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
